Flagstone Paving

Natural flagstones give pool surrounds a beautiful, natural feel. LaCotta and similar flagstones are well suited to pool environments and can be combined in different sizes for an attractive, non-repetitive finish. Cement Pavers

Cement pavers such as bevel bond and colonial stone can be used for pool surrounds where budget is a primary consideration. They are less resistant to pool chemicals than clay over the long term, but can perform well if properly sealed and maintained.

Drainage: Getting it Right Around Pools

A pool surround must drain effectively. Water sitting on the surface becomes a slip hazard and can work into the substrate beneath the paving over time. We ensure the paving slopes correctly away from the pool edge so that water drains efficiently, typically towards a drain channel or away from the pool structure.

Expansion and Chemical Exposure

How far should paving extend around the pool?

There's no fixed rule, but most pool surrounds are at least 1.2 to 1.5 metres wide to give people somewhere to walk, place a chair or a towel, and move around comfortably. Wider surrounds — 2 metres or more — allow for proper outdoor furniture and create a more relaxed, usable space. We can advise based on your available space.

Will pool chemicals damage the paving?

Clay pavers are naturally resistant to chlorine and other pool chemicals.
